Part Time Teacher Training Administrator
The Life Centre Education Limited (“LCE”)
We are a non-profit making educational body associated with, but independent of, both The Life Centre and Yogamatters. We were established in 2003 to run yoga teacher training courses and other specialist yoga training, and are now widely recognised as one of the UK’s leading providers of yoga teacher training and education, attracting students from around the world and hosting some of the world’s most pre-eminent yoga teachers.
We are currently engaged in re-branding The Life Centre Education Limited in a way which will further emphasise its position as a yoga training centre of excellence.
Part Time Teacher Training Administrator
We are entering a new phase of development at LCE and as a result are looking for someone to work 2 days a week for a 6 month period to assist the Teacher Training and Workshop Manager during this development phase. Your primary responsibility will be the overall day to day administration of the Yoga Therapy Foundation Course and the Yoga Therapy Diploma Course; however you will also provide assistance to the Teacher Training Manager on other courses and workshops as required.
More particularly, your role will include:
- answering all telephone, email and written enquiries from prospective and existing students (referring to the relevant person any matter you are unable to deal with) on these two courses;
- maintaining students’ records on these two courses;
- copying and distributing course materials as required;
- managing the selection procedure for these courses;
- collecting all student course work and giving it to the relevant person for review;
- liaising with course teachers in relation to their teaching schedule, materials which they need to be distributed and any other requirements they may have;
- providing general administrative assistance to the Teacher Training Manager and course teachers;
- generally promoting, and assisting in developing and expanding, The Life Centre Education and its courses and workshops
Qualifications
In order to meet the requirements of the job, we would expect you to be a yoga practitioner with a good awareness of the range and depth of the yoga tradition and an interest in yoga therapy. Our courses are non-dogmatic, and our students come from a wide range of yoga backgrounds. While practitioners of any style or path of yoga are welcome to apply, you would be expected to show respect for all yoga traditions in your dealings with students and others.You will also need to be highly organised, meticulous in record keeping, self-motivated and able to take responsibility. As much of your role will involve interfacing with students and others by telephone and e-mail, you will need to have excellent inter-personal skills and the maturity to respond appropriately and sensitively to students’ and teachers’ concerns.
Your role will also involve the processing and collating of substantial volumes of paper – e.g. in copying and distributing course materials – so you will be expected to be thorough in checking that all necessary materials have been accurately copied and distributed to all necessary recipients.
You will need to be computer literate and have a good working knowledge of Word and Excel. Familiarity with Sage accounting software would be helpful, but necessary training will be given if required.
Job location and terms of employment
You will be based at the office of Yogamatters, 32 Clarendon Road, London N8 0DJ, The Yoga Therapy courses take place at The Yoga Therapy Centre, Pentonville Road, London N1 and you may from time to time be required to travel there for the purpose of your job.
We are looking for someone to work 2 days a week. We would prefer that one of these days is a Thursday or Friday as a significant part of the work will be preparing for weekend training sessions but are flexible as to the exact days and would also consider applicants who wished to work three shorter days (say for example if they had children).. You may occasionally be required to work overtime without additional pay. While you are not normally required or expected to attend any of our courses or workshops, you should be aware that the majority of our courses and workshops take place at weekends and you may exceptionally be asked to attend some part of a course or workshop for the purpose of your job.
This appointment will be for a fixed period to the end of October 2008 at which stage we will assess our longer term staffing requirements. Your salary (for the two day week) will be up to £10,000 p.a. You will also be entitled to attend any drop-in yoga or pilates class at The Life Centre in Notting Hill free of charge, and to receive a 25% discount on the cost of any workshop or event organised by The Life Centre and/or The Life Centre Education Limited. You will also be entitled to receive staff discount on any purchases you make from Yogamatters.
