Unlocking the Mysteries
of Yoga
a series of 4 mini-workshops
15 Edge Street,
London W8
Wed 2 & 9 April, 2008
This series of two hour workshops is ideal for those who are interested in deepening their understanding of their yoga practice, as well as for those just wanting inspiration in order to kick start their practice once again. Spanning a 4 week period, these intimate workshops are designed to answer the questions that are not often addressed in regular classes.
Week 1 - Unlocking the mystery of the shoulders
The shoulders are a big problem area for a lot of people. This workshop is the ideal opportunity to understand how, through yoga, we can free up this troublesome area. Ideal for those suffering with tight necks and shoulders.
Week 2 - Unlocking the mystery of the hips
The hips are the key to many yoga positions as they also affect nearby areas such as the lower back and the knees. This workshop will focus on developing a greater understanding of all the movements within the hips and making sense of any tightness. Ideal for those with tight hips or bad backs.
Week 3 - Unlocking the mystery of the core
Referred to in the West as the core, and known in the yoga tradition as the bandhas, this dynamic structure within all of us is the initiator of all our movement and also the source of our inner physical strength. This workshop will focus both on our inner physical power and also on how this power leads to understanding the mental and spiritual power within.
Week 4 - Unlocking the mystery of inversions
Inverted postures change the body’s relationship with gravity, the positive effects of which strengthen the heart, relieve the constant pressure on major organs and bringing much needed nutrients to the face, eyes, brain and hair. It is said that inversions are yoga’s answer to the face-lift. This workshop will examine a number of inverted postures, finding safe and exciting ways to use them.
